A Polish resistance fighter using a German Mauser K98 against its owners. After WWII many K98 rifles saw further service in other countries to arm fledgling military forces. A few years ago I found a Mauser K98 that had been captured by the Russians and marked with the tell-tale X. It later had East German markings stamped into it as a reserve rifle. It then went to Israel where the Star of David was addedand amazingly its next journey was Iraq, where the Iraqi arsenal mark was put on. Final stop for that old Mauser was the U.S. I regret not buying it at the time, and as cliche as it sounds, but damn if that rifle could talk, the stories it could tell.
